CUSTOM BLENDS

CLARKE'S OWN - One hundred percent: Black Cavendish Tobaccos, Fire-cured for extra mildness, touched with a walnut flavour.

LUXANNE - Literally the finest Fire-cured available, topped with vanilla. This jet black tobacco is unbelievably cool.

PERK'S OWN - Fire cured Cavendish Tobacco. This is discretely flavoured to produce an extremely mild, slow burning smoke.

POLO - Black Cavendish. Fire cured, Red Virginia and Lemon Virginia are the key ingredients in this feather light blend. Polo has an airy aroma with the barest hint of vanilla.

STUDIO - A Blend of Red Virginia and Lemon Virginia, Black Cavendish and a Danish pastry sauce. Light and absolutely biteless, this blend is ideal for beginning smokers. The aroma is delicious.

PREMIUM #1 - Basically a golden Cavendish blend, with a small amount of Fire cured leaf added. This provides a smooth taste and flavourful aroma.

MILD ENGLISH - Golden Virginia, Latakia, Perique, and Turkish Broad-Cut. Surprisingly light bodied for a Latakia mixture - this is our most popular English blend.

PREMIUM MIXTURE - A combination of Virginia and Burley Leaf Tobaccos mixed with a toasted Cavendish base, producing a pleasant cool smoke.

NOTES ON THE TOBACCOS

VIRGINIA - Although grown world-wide, the best Virginias come from the five growing "belts" of the United States. Virginia has the hightest sugar content of any tobacco: this rich, natural sweetness is its major characteristic. In Canada we know Virginia mostly as the blond tobacco in our cigarettes; however, depending upon the variety and the processing, it can be anything from a light-bodied Bright Flake to a potent Black Fire-cured. Virginia is used in all manner of blends for its ripe sweet taste. It is THE essential ingredient in all English mixtures. Pressed and aged properly, Virginia is smoked on its own as the cognac of tobaccos.

RED VIRGINIA - A variety of Virginia grown in the old and middle "belts" of the southern United States. Famed for its thick, rich taste, it's the most potent of Virginias - and the most flavourful.

BURLEY - The White Burley used in pipe tobacco is primarilly a product of the southern United States. High on nicotine and low on sigar, it has an amazing capacity to absorb flavourings. A low-profile tovacco with very little aroma, it has a pleasant "crunchy Granola" taste. Burley is used extensively as a base in North American blends.

TURKISH OR ORIENTAL - The term "Turkish" is used to describe tobaccos grown in any country that was once part of the old Turkish Empire: Turkey, Greece, Yugoslavia, Bulgaria, Southern Russia, and North Africa. Low on sugar and nicotine, these pale, dry tobaccos are used as flavouring agents. Faintly almond tasting, they are prized for their room-filling, tea-like fragrance. Turkish tobaccos are used to give an aromatic edge to a blend.
